Ingredients
- - 1 cup powdered sugar
- - 2 tablespoons Pacific NH Pectin
- - 1/2 cup water
- - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- - Food coloring (optional, for color variation
Instructions
- Combine Pectin and Sugar: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and NH pectin until well combined.
- Prepare Water: In a small saucepan, heat the water until it's warm but not boiling.
- Dissolve Pectin: Gradually add the warm water to the powdered sugar and pectin mixture, stirring continuously to ensure the pectin is fully dissolved.
- Cooking the Mixture: Transfer the mixture to the saucepan and heat it over medium heat. Stir constantly to prevent lumps.
- Bring to a Boil: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Keep stirring until the glaze thickens.
- Optional: Add Vanilla Extract: If desired, add vanilla extract to enhance the flavor of the glaze. Stir well.
- Cooling: Allow the glaze to cool to room temperature. It will continue to thicken as it cools.
- Optional: Add Food Coloring: If you want a colored glaze, add a few drops of food coloring and mix until the desired color is achieved.
- Strain (Optional): If you want a smoother glaze, you can strain it through a fine mesh sieve to remove any lumps.
- Application: Once cooled and thickened, you can pour or drizzle the glaze over cakes, pastries, or other desserts. Use a spatula to spread it evenly if needed.
- Setting: Allow the glaze to set for a short time. It will form a glossy finish as it dries.
- Serve: Once the glaze has set, your desserts are ready to be served with a shiny, flavorful finish.
